AND NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF!

We are finally in Toowoomba, we spent the last 4 days moving, unpacking, cleaning etc. But we are finally here and settled in so feel free to visit any time!

Yesterday, we spent about 2.5 hours at Beaumont Tiles Toowoomba, if anyone ever visits this store ask for Sharon ... she was amazingly helpful and offered some great suggestions.

So we have finally decided on some of colour themes. Firstly we had to select the bench tops and cupboard colours so that we could match them to the tiles.

For benches we are going with Laminex- Catalana Marble Diamond Gloss (163) this will be for all the benches; bathrooms, kitchen and laundry.

For the cupboard doors are are going with the Laminex - Melamine Shannon Oak Sheen. They will act as feature as we have gone fairly basic with the tile colours. In the kitchen they will feature on the Breakfast bar/cupboards, while the back wall near the cook tops will be Laminex- Polar White Diamond Gloss (205).

The tiles were a bit harder as we had to match them with the bench and cupboard colours once we started laying them all out together on the floor and we could see how they worked together we were able to agree on what we liked and what we didnt. But on the shelves Karl and I had two very different ideas.
In the end we ended up going with very basic tiles. One of the reasons for this is that our bench is going to be our feature as Karl really loves the wood grain look. If he had his way without my input and the guidance of the lady at Beaumont we would probably have it on every surface :)

Floor tiles main living area: Alto Ash Porcelain 300 x 600 laid vertically
Floor tiles bathroom: Mocha 300x300
Wall tiles: White Gloss 300x600 laid horizontally
Splashbacks: Gloss Ash Latte 100x300

They have given us full size samples of the tiles so that we can take them with us to select paint and carpet. Its good seeing all the colours together, we found yesterday if we didn't do this the colour was totally different. Depending on what you place a particular tile with it would throw a different colour based on what was around it.

Now we just cant change our mind or will get stung a $500 fee!

We are going to head out to the block today to have another walk around and just enjoy the block. Its a beautiful day in Toowoomba today. Beautiful blue skies. Something we havent seen since we moved.

Until next time x

A GREAT WAY TO FINISH 2011

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I updated everyone. But to be honest it has a been a crazy time. And I highly recommend to first time players to not do finance anywhere near Christmas!! This meant we had not 1 but 3 people go on holidays on us, which stretched the construction loan application process out way longer than we hoped. Long story short is it is all resolved now... and we even got a bit extra to do the driveway and blinds. This makes me very happy, now we don't need to tack up sheets!

Now its time for Karl and I to find a rental to live in the interim. So i am heading up to Toowoomba Wednesday to try my luck. As Coral is closed until 9th January the plans will not be submitted until council until then. At the moment they are quoting 2-4 weeks but anything up to 8 weeks. Fingers crossed its closer to the earlier time frame! The delay in finance, cause this delay, which is a bit of a shame but it is done and dusted now.

The next step for us colour selection. We have already done a bit of leg work here. But all that really means is we keep changing our minds over and over again. Since its such an exciting stage I will do a blog with our thoughts and ideas and maybe even ask your opinions.

Until next time... and Happy New Year by the way. xx
